I was proud to see just how many people in the Valley cared-enough to attend this event. There was absolutely no parking spaces left open along Linwood Ave! Kudo's to both the organizer's & attendee's of this event. ( It also helped that there were many free "admit-one" tickets available on-line and in stores up & down Rt-122...).

I think V-o-R has the location pegged exactly. And I also think that Smiley & his brethren probably came from re-cycled material, so I'm quite sure that he approves of the efforts of Grafton town-folk to recycle... View Comment
A bus from Grafton to Worcester would be a real benefit to young folk in town that do not own a car & have to make choices on what jobs they can realistically apply for. View Comment
My end of the small-numbered section of Westboro Road was VERY well done by about 10:30am following the storm. A great big truck get going up & down to clear the street & the little truck did an admirable job of clean-up/.trim. Kudo's to the crews! View Comment
I agree with Voice of Reason... Very comfortably sitting on the plow. What Smiley might not realize, even though he has probably "rolled" by this location a zillion times is that just to his right is a windowless 2-story brick wall. Been told that this is an old bank vault, complete with a metal spiral stair-case inside. When Smiley rolls-in to visit the Historical Society on Sunday, he can see the bricked-up entrance to this...:-) View Comment
I'm not sure if Smiley can actually "swim", but I bet he sure can float ! So I'm guessing that he might need to be toweled-off if he is there when the ice breaks, but otherwise be OK... View Comment
There is no excuse in today's business climate for failing this test. All establishments in Grafton that sell tobacco-products sign on to the State "We-Card' program with the individual employee training that accompanies it. View Comment
I have seen these signs around town & they are very well made, & with the town seal. They seem to be very effective at getting the message out about the Jan-03 meeting. I was a bit curious as to the "WHATS UP?" message though. It doesn't seem to be the type of wording that the town of Grafton would use for a public notification...? View Comment
Smiley is at the Credit Union's "launching-pad" awaiting Santa's countdown. He might want to roll-off of Rudolph on Christmas Eve though. I don't know if "hitching" a ride is "naughty", but why take a chance...:-) View Comment
Folks, I work for the company that owns Gulf Oil & of course we consistently monitor our own tank-age. I've been reading " 50-year old & used " tanks in this thread. Disturbing if it can be shown to be true. Can anyone point me to a web-thread that shows this? Thanks... View Comment
DEF, Smiley is on the Geezer's set... Been told that he doesn't have hands, so he can't put a lampshade on his head when partying, but he certainly IS capable of climbing into his shot-glass...:-) BTW, I love this emoticom, it looks JUST like him... View Comment
With the expected & obvious flurry of various media on this issue, I haven't yet had time to digest the full read of the restraining order. But I DO believe that you are correct. Good point... View Comment
I will disclaim that with my tagline GURR, my opinions generally favor the railroad. With that said, I'm not sure that a cease & desist order against "construction" ( including the movement of empty storage tanks ) will accomplish much. The railroad has obviously committed financial resources toward this propane storage facility and the halting of the movement of the tanks to the site would seem to accomplish little to its completion. The railroad will just pay for storage off-site somewhere. If it were my money ( and as a Grafton taxpayer, it is... ) that I was spending & I had questions on this facility, I'd put my resources into verifying that the new facility is built to proper standards & passes all required inspections. As ConcernedCitizen noted: Safety first... View Comment
OMG, Smiley, what did you do now?? Looks like you might be in the lock-up at the Police Station. And... since you are hand-cuffed, doesn't look like you are just visiting...:-) View Comment
