NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — Take a look at how Algonquin High School's varsity sports teams did this past week.
Basketball (Boys: 8-0; Girls: 7-1): The streak continues for the boys, who beat North Middlesex High School on Tuesday, 73-50, and Fitchburg High School on Friday, 82-63. Tomahawk A.J. Brodeur had a career-high 31 points, along with 21 rebounds, on Friday. The girls picked up two wins this week as well, beating North Middlesex on Tuesday, 59-51, and Fitchburg on Friday, 54-19. Tomahawk Sarah Merchant scored a game-high 19 points on Tuesday.
Ice Hockey (Boys: 4-2-1; Girls: 2-4): The boys picked up a win against Leominster High School on Saturday, 4-3. Freshman Alex DiPadua scored twice. The girls lost to Gardner High School on Wednesday, 2-0.
Swimming (9-0): The swim team reached nine straight wins this week. They beat Tyngsborough High School on Monday, 99-84, and Tantasqua High School on Wednesday, 114-62.
Gymnastics (5-0): Algonquin picked up two wins on Wednesday. They beat Wachusett High School, 136.300-118.5, and Marlborough High School, 136.300-122.400. Tomahawk Alissa Wood won the overall with 35.8 points.
Indoor Track: Algonquin beat St. John's High School in a meet on Thursday, 69-22. They lost to Shrewsbury at the same meet, 51-40. Algonquin won the 4X220 relay with a time of 1:44.0, and won the 4X440 relay with a time of 4:06.9.
