SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — About 75 to 80 teams of parents and children attended last week's "Use Your Noodle" night at Neary Elementary School, proving for the second year in a row that learning can indeed be fun.

"It's really a team math and science night," said event organizer Laura Michel. "It's a chance for parents to work with their child on one math and one science station."

Challenges included "The Marshmallow Launch" and "Spaghetti Structures." In the former, teams competed to design a contraption that would launch a marshmallow the farthest across the school's gymnasium. In the latter, teams worked to build a tower out of dry spaghetti that could hold the most weight in pennies.

In addition, teams were given "brain bender" math puzzles to solve and also had the change to figure out geometric puzzles with Tangrams.
