SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — An Everett man became the second of two accused of stealing copper in Southborough on Friday.
Scott MacDonald, 29, of 56 Warren St., Everett, was arraigned in Westborough District Court on charges of breaking and entering a building in the nighttime for a felony, attempting to commit a crime, defacing property and trespassing.
Police believe that MacDonald — along with Nicholas Mercaldi, 29, of 60 Chestnut St., Lynn — attempted to steal copper on Sept. 3 from an NStar location at 157 Cordaville Road.
Responding to a call from NStar about 3 a.m. that Monday, police arrested Mercaldi at gunpoint. A second suspect, however, fled on foot. MacDonald was arrested following a lengthy police search. Both men face the same charges.
MacDonald was released on personal recognizance and is due in court Nov. 15.
