SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — A 23-year-old Boston University student from Southborough was killed Thursday morning when his bike collided with a tractor-trailer in Allston, Boston.com reports.
Christopher Weigl, a graduate student studying photojournalism, reportedly was riding his bicycle on Commonwealth Avenue by Saint Paul Street when he collided with the truck, which was making a right turn.
Boston police responded to the call at 8:36 a.m. Weigl was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Boston Police Department News Blog, Police added the driver of the truck identified himself, though his name has not yet been released. The area around the crash was closed Thursday while police investigated.
BU President Robert Brown offered his condolences in an email to students and staff, reports The Daily Free Press, BU's student newspaper.
“The thoughts and prayers of all of us go to the family and friends who are experiencing this terrible loss," Brown wrote.
