Southborough Heritage Day Road Race Cancelled

The Southborough Rotary Club's Heritage Day 5K Road Race has been cancelled.

SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — The Southborough Rotary Club's Heritage Day 5K Road Race, scheduled for Oct. 7, has been cancelled due to low pre-race registration numbers.

"Without sufficient runner participation we cannot support the costs associated with the race," wrote Southborough Rotary President Carl Guyer in an e-mail to The Daily Voice on Monday.

The road race was intended as a fund-raiser for the Southborough Food Pantry and for polio eradication, a longstanding goal of Rotary International.

The Southborough Rotary Club recommends that runners transfer their registration to the annual Gobble Wobble 5K Race, sponsored by the Friends of Southborough Recreation on Nov. 25.

Runners may also donate their registration fee to the Southborough Rotary Club's fund for polio eradication and the Southborough Food Pantry, or they may request a refund by contacting the Southborough Recreation Department at 508-229-4452 or dferguson@southboroughma.com.
