SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass. — In preparation for Thanksgiving, the Southborough Food Pantry will be distributing 50 food baskets to its clients on Saturday, Nov. 17.
According to Food Pantry Coordinator Marjorie Coldwell, the baskets will contain food for Thanksgiving, as well as gift cards that can be used in local grocery stores.
The food pantry was able to fill the baskets with help from local Boy and Girl Scouts, who ensured that this year's "Scouting for Food" event was a success. Coldwell said the Scouts collected and sorted nearly 9,500 pounds of food on Nov. 10.
The pantry, however, still has a need for certain items as winter approaches. They include the following:
- Jars of applesauce
- Parmalat 1% milk
- Beef soups
Bags of all sizes (snack to trash)
